Throughout April 2023, Leviatan Design supported a series of academic initiatives that contributed to the training and development of future Romanian engineers, thus reaffirming its role as a promoter of the involvement of the private sector in the education of students in Romania.
Leviatan supported the participation of a team from the Technical University of Civil Engineering Bucharest at the International Seismic Engineering Competition in the United States. The company took part in the activities and debates organized during the ConstructFest event, and is currently preparing the practice and internship programs that it will house this year.
Students from UTCB, supported by Leviatan Design at the International Seismic Engineering Competition
Held between April 11-14 2023, in San Francisco California, the International Seismic Engineering Competition, organized by the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute, brought together 38 teams from universities around the world.
Leviatan Design company supported the team from UTCB, as it had in past years, by funding the students’ trip to this competition and guiding them in the creation of the model for the contest. In addition, Ana-Maria Dincă, designer engineer in the Structures Department of Leviatan Design, who is pursuing a master’s program at UTCB, was part of the team this year as a team advisor.
At the seismic competition, the students from UTCB presented the Cyto Tower project, composed of two skyscrapers connected by four corridors, with a structure adapted to the seismic conditions of San Francisco, which brought them the “Best Architecture” distinction.
Leviatan specialists, present at ConstructFest 2023
The ConstructFest event, the largest European construction fair for students and pupils, held between April 24-28, 2023, provided Leviatan specialists the opportunity to interact with hundreds of enthusiastic students and to participate in multiple activities and useful debates dedicated to student development.
At the Leviatan Design company stand at ConstructFest, Leviatan specialists explained to students how they design and execute in BIM system, presenting the Mixed Reality HoloLens 2 glasses and the NavVis VLX scanning equipment. Moreover, at the Leviatan stand, over 600 prizes were handed out to students, and 3 tickets to the Neversea Festival were awarded to students in the online competition organized by Leviatan Design company.
Cătălin Podaru, CEO of Leviatan Design, spoke during the debate “Higher Technical Education – Where to?” about the jobs of the future, trends in the engineering field, in the context of the evolution of this sector and the labor market, as well as about the importance of adapting the university curriculum to labor market trends.
At the same time, Romina Posea, Head of Planning & Continuous Improvement Office – Leviatan Design, met with students from UTCB, to present them the practice and internship opportunities available at Leviatan.
With a major contribution in the adoption and implementation of new technologies in the construction field within Leviatan Design, Maria Văsi, Anca Stancu and Cristina Ilie also took part in several constructive discussions, to promote a broader approach to BIM methodology in university study programs.
New practice and internship opportunities available at Leviatan Design
This year’s edition of the ConstructFest event was certainly a success, and shortly after the launch of the practice and internship programs at Leviatan Design, 80 students expressed their intention to pursue an internship at Leviatan, by completing the registration form.
Leviatan Design company will continue to invest in education and will remain open to initiatives launched by technical faculties in Romania.
