Students who enrolled in the 2023 practice and internship programs at Leviatan Design worked on real civil engineering and construction projects in a digitalized company where the team exclusively conducts projects in 3D, utilizes BIM processes, and employs the latest equipment and technologies.
This year’s practice and internship stages were designed so that students could assimilate new knowledge about BIM processes, applied in Design & Build projects.
The registration process was officially launched at the VI edition of the ConstructFest event, where over 100 students from the Technical University of Civil Engineering Bucharest expressed their interest in following the practice and internship stages at Leviatan Design.
Over 600 prizes were handed to students at the Leviatan stand at ConstructFest, and in an online contest held on the Facebook and Instagram pages of Leviatan Design, from April 24-28, for students from technical faculties in Romania, 3 tickets to the Neversea Festival were awarded.
Practice
Initiated in June, the practice stage brought curious, enthusiastic students eager to gain valuable experience in the construction field to Leviatan Design, and also introduced an innovation through a practice partnership with the Politehnica University of Bucharest. Thus, our stage accommodated students from both the Technical University of Civil Engineering Bucharest and UPB.
Daniel Gheorghe, representative of Graitec Romania, a partner of Leviatan Design in the process of adopting and implementing new technologies, joined this initiative and spoke to the students about the advantages of using BIM in construction projects.
The students made significant progress during the practice program at Leviatan Design, which was structured to allow them to follow the evolution and step-by-step development of real projects.
In the Structural Design Department, students performed calculations in ETABS and modeling in Revit, and the specialists of the Installations Department presented case studies and software applications used to create projects, then focused on the practical part to show the installations of a building and all its systems.
Specialists from the Digital Twin, Technical Assistance, and Process Planning and Improvement Departments also contributed to the students’ development, showcasing the advantages of digitalized work methods successfully applied in Leviatan Design’s projects.
The practice program included site visits, which the students were excited to participate in. On site, students were greeted by specialists in execution works and technical assistance, and the practical experience they gained in this context was enhanced by using Mixed Reality HoloLens 2 glasses. Thus, students could see the interactive virtual representation of the construction in full execution process and understand how the concepts they learned are applied in reality.
In the final stage of the internship, students interacted with experts from the Procurement, Contract Bidding-Execution, and Billing Departments, where they learned how to conduct comparative analyses, prepare offers on quantity lists, prepare budgets, attachments for executed works, material approval forms, and minutes for works and materials, and how to extract quantities using Navisworks.
Leviatan specialists were delighted to meet a new generation of future engineers and show them the opportunities available in a company that emphasizes digitization, such as Leviatan Design.

Internship
This year’s internship program was aimed at students from the Technical University of Civil Engineering Bucharest who wanted to gain as much practical experience as possible.
Thus, Andreea is currently undergoing her internship in the Structural Design Department, Alex and Emanuel are following the program under the guidance of specialists from the Installations Department, and Andra, who attended the Faculty of Engineering in Foreign Languages at UTCB, specializing in Translation and Interpreting, is applying her knowledge in the Marketing Department.
Leviatan Design supports the development of young people in Romania and thus contributes to the formation of a new generation of specialists.

Expert Advice
“The construction field is dynamic and diverse. Each project is different and comes with challenges that require you to train your curiosity and resilience to be prepared to face them. From the role of a specialist, namely an engineer with 12 years of experience, I confidently recommend you to follow this path, regardless of times and context, because this profession will offer you unlimited development possibilities. The greatest satisfaction comes from the tangible – when a project turns into a physical construction and ‘tells’ about your work as an engineer and your involvement in the entire process, from design to execution.
My practical advice: the construction field is currently and will be even more in the future a blend of digitization, and IT and AI knowledge are a value-added for your future! Remember: through perseverance and continuous actions towards your professional goals, you will succeed: Sky is the limit!”
