Between November 13-15, 2023, a delegation of 5 experts from Leviatan Design attended Autodesk University 2023: The Design & Make Conference, the largest AEC (Architecture, Engineering, and Construction) event globally, held at The Venetian Convention Center & Expo in Las Vegas, United States.
This prestigious event gathered over 12,000 professionals from the AEC industry worldwide, showcasing how cutting-edge technologies are redefining the future of construction and beyond.
Autodesk University 2023 offered the audience a series of keynotes and speeches by Autodesk company specialists, as well as an exhibition fair with nearly 200 exhibitors, presenting current trends and emerging technologies.
At the Autodesk Expo, Leviatan specialists noted several advanced technological solutions presented by companies from around the world for 3D modeling, collaborative BIM data management, as well as equipment for virtual and mixed reality applied in the construction field, and LIDAR scanning.

“The construction field is and must be deeply digitized for performance and adaptation to the current market conditions, where everything happens quickly, and the workforce is increasingly scarce. Another important aspect is the use of artificial intelligence, extremely useful in complex processes, but also to manage the large flow of data and information in the construction process, quickly. This allows the realization of large-scale projects, at a high level of quality, as well as the integration of sustainable solutions, in a much shorter time,” explained Cătălin Podaru, CEO of Leviatan Design.
For Leviatan Design, it was an honor to represent Romania at the Autodesk University 2023 event, as a promoter of digitalization and technology in construction, alongside Graitec, with whom it has a very good collaboration regarding the adoption of specific software solutions for design and BIM work.

Leviatan Design’s participation in the world’s largest AEC event was made possible after a complex selection process, where the case study about the new technologies used by Leviatan specialists in Design & Build projects was chosen from over 2700 applications.
The world’s largest AEC event held special significance for Romina Posea, Head of Planning & Continuous Improvement Office at Leviatan Design, who stated: “The joy of participating in such a large-scale event was immense because it offered us the opportunity to show the whole world how technological progress is reflected in our projects. Certainly, the event inspired us in the process of implementing new technologies because we want to be more efficient, deliver projects faster, and at higher quality standards.”
A new era of technology in construction, unveiled at Autodesk University 2023
During the event, Andrew Anagnost, CEO of Autodesk, announced on the main stage the launch of Autodesk AI, a product that has taken various forms to date, created to support Autodesk product users.
The integration of artificial intelligence promises to automate repetitive tasks, optimize projects for high efficiency, and help designers make quick, informed decisions.
Later, Raji Arasu, Chief Technical Officer at Autodesk, highlighted the importance of data. As all information needs to surpass the file barrier to be used to its full potential, Raji Arasu proposed the use of an advanced solution, known as Autodesk Platform Services (APS).

On the occasion of these presentations, Gabriel Marcu, Chief Technical Officer at Leviatan Design, noted: “I observed Autodesk’s increased interest in ensuring that the solutions they develop offer new functionalities for both the design part and the execution part, which are easy to use and contribute to achieving the desired results.”
Furthermore, the main stage of the event showcased Autodesk’s main products serving various industries, including: Autodesk Construction Cloud and Forma for the AEC sector, Fusion for the industrial and manufacturing area, and Flow – akin to a common data environment – for the Media & Entertainment industry.

“Autodesk University 2023 was an incredible experience, where we learned about the latest innovations in design and technology. From 3D modeling using automated tools to planning smart cities and tracking construction using integrated solutions, the possibilities seem limitless. The energy and passion of other participants were contagious, and interactions with internationally recognized professionals were very useful,” said Beatrice Băluță-Siclitaru, Architect at Leviatan Design.
Good practices adopted by Leviatan in the digital transformation process, presented at #AU2023
The third day of the event brought Maria Văsi, BIM Implementation Manager at Leviatan Design, Stevens Chemise, Product Line Manager at Graitec, and Daniel Gheorghe, R&D Product Specialist at Graitec, to the stage, who presented in front of over 180 professionals from the USA, Europe, Asia, and Australia the good practices adopted by Leviatan Design in the digital transformation process.
How BIM, New Tech, 3D Rebar & Mixed Reality enhance Design & Build Projects, the presentation given by the three specialists emphasized the benefits of BIM adoption, the work steps regarding data collection from the field and its processing, so that the results are introduced into the workflow of designers and engineers on site, as well as virtual and mixed reality technologies.
In this way, Maria Văsi, Stevens Chemise, and Daniel Gheorghe demonstrated how the adoption of BIM at the company level has revolutionized the design and execution process, allowing their specialists to carry out more efficient and higher quality projects, in a much shorter time.
On this occasion, concrete examples from Leviatan Design’s projects were presented to illustrate how these technologies can optimize processes throughout the construction duration, from the concept phase to the handover to the client.
“Participating in Autodesk University 2023 reinforced my belief that at our company level we have successfully implemented and adopted the BIM work methodology and used technologies and equipment in an efficient way that brings high value and quality to our projects. I am sure that Leviatan Design represents a benchmark in terms of technology adoption in Design & Build projects, internationally,” said Maria Văsi, BIM Implementation Manager at Leviatan Design.
Perspectives on the future of construction
Leviatan Design’s experience at Autodesk University 2023 highlighted how important continuous innovation is in the construction sector. The prestigious event was a catalyst for Leviatan, confirming that the company’s direction towards digitalization and innovation is correct and essential to remain competitive in the dynamics of globalization.

“We believe that digitalization and modern technological solutions allow companies in Romania to quickly reach a level of performance similar to firms in more developed countries. At the Autodesk University 2023 event, the presentation given by Leviatan and Graitec specialists generated a lot of interest, leading to interesting discussions with specialists in the field about the implemented solutions and technologies. This experience pleased us and gave us confidence that in Romania we can create performance in this industry, having the capacity to compete with international companies, both domestically and internationally,” concluded Cătălin Podaru, CEO of Leviatan Design.
