Obtaining BSI Kitemark™ certification for Building Information Modeling (BIM) represents a milestone for Leviatan Design, not only validating the maturity of the company’s digital processes but also marking a first for the construction sector in Romania.
Leviatan Design has become the first company in Romania to be BSI Kitemark™ certified for information security design and management, in accordance with ISO 19650-1:2018 and ISO 19650-5:2020 standards, confirming the company’s ability to deliver construction projects to the highest standards. In other words, BSI Kitemark certification is to the construction industry what the Michelin star is to restaurants: an independent, globally recognized validation that processes are at the highest level.

The certification comes at a strategic moment for the local market, as Romania takes concrete steps to align the public construction sector with European digitization standards, including the introduction of mandatory BIM use in public projects by 2028. Thus, Leviatan Design confirms that it has already prepared to meet these requirements two years ahead of the official deadline.
“This certification confirms not only the technical level we have achieved, but also our organizational maturity, our ability to manage information and deliver complex projects predictably and securely. BSI certification is not a trophy, but a passport that opens access to the most demanding international projects,” said Cătălin Podaru, founder and CEO of Leviatan Group.
For customers in the public and private sectors, BSI Kitemark™ certification delivers clear, differentiating benefits across the entire project delivery chain. In the design phase, advanced digital BIM information management enables faster, better-informed decisions, more efficient coordination across disciplines, risk reduction from the early stages, and better control of costs and technical solutions.
“The certification validates how we transform digital data and models into real tools for decision-making, coordination, and control throughout the design process,” explained Maria Văsi, Director of Operations and Transformation.

Furthermore, Leviatan Design supports its digital processes by using the Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) platform, which has been certified by BSI Kitemark™ for compliance with ISO 19650 standards, confirming that it provides the workflows and functionalities necessary for structured and standardized information management, which is essential for the delivery of complex projects in the field of architecture, engineering, and construction.
Within the Leviatan Group, BSI Kitemark™ certification has broad relevance, having been obtained for both design and execution, and for information security management, by Leviatan Design and Ubitech Construcții, both members of the same group. The certification confirms the consistency of the BIM approach at the group level and the ability to manage information in an integrated ecosystem throughout the entire project life cycle, in accordance with international standards.
„As the first companies based in Romania to achieve BSI Kitemark Certification for BIM Part 1, 2 and 5; BSI have been proud to support the Leviatan and Ubitech teams to take advantage of the benefits that proper utilization of BIM brings. Improved efficiency, enhanced collaboration, and increased capacity to identify and mitigate security risks are key elements of a well-implemented BIM system, covering parts 1,2 and 5. I’d like to thank Leviatan and Ubitech for their team’s active engagement with the audits conducted by BSI, where they showcased their commitment to continual improvement regarding their approach to building information modelling”, Gary Pattison, Certification Team Manager, BSI Group.

The process of obtaining BSI Kitemark™ certification is complex and rigorous, taking Leviatan Group approximately six months to complete. During this time, auditors examined workflows, internal procedures, ongoing projects, and information management in detail. More than just a one-off validation, certification involves continuous monitoring, recurring audits, and constant verification of the application of standards in practice. This rigor distinguishes it internationally and explains why only a limited number of companies worldwide hold it.
By obtaining BSI Kitemark™ certification, Leviatan Design consolidates its position as a leader in the Romanian architecture market. It reaffirms its role as a pioneer in the digital transformation of the sector in which it operates. This achievement reflects not only compliance with the most demanding international standards but also the company’s ability to anticipate market developments and deliver complex, secure, and predictable projects in a context where BIM methodology is becoming an essential standard for the industry’s future.
