Leviatan Design, a leading company in the construction sector in Romania, joins the project “National Competence Center and solutions for developing climate-neutral smart cities” – NetZeroCities, at the proposal of the Technical University of Civil Engineering Bucharest, to contribute to the development of sustainable projects.
In line with the constant support the company offers to the academic environment, as well as with its commitments to deliver sustainable projects and a “real digital twin” to its clients, in the first stage of this collaboration, within the NetZeroCities project, Leviatan’s specialists will provide consultancy and advice to the UTCB project team, for the development of Digital Twin models – one for the EFdeN prototype building and one for a single-family house in the urban environment.
Thus, three students from CESI Brest (Ecole d’ingénieurs CESI), who are on an internship at UTCB, along with another three students from UTCB, will benefit from the continuous support offered by Leviatan’s specialists, during the period 28.08.2023 – 29.09.2023.
The NetZeroCities project was launched at the beginning of this year and will run until the end of 2025, being carried out within a consortium that includes several higher education institutions and private companies from Romania, coordinated by the National University of Science and Technology Politehnica Bucharest.

NetZeroCities has a total budget of 6 million euros, of which 4.7 million are obtained from the PNRR and aims to support the achievement of climate neutrality of cities in Romania, by transferring sustainable solutions to local authorities, which will contribute to improving the quality of life of citizens.
With the launch of this project, the National Competence Center for Future Smart Cities, Climate Neutral, was also created, which carries out five component research-development-innovation projects for smart cities.
The sustainable solutions generated within this project will be tested in a Smart Campus of the National University of Science and Technology Politehnica Bucharest, as well as at the level of all partners in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Iași, Suceava, and Baia Mare.
As part of this project, Leviatan’s specialists will support the six students involved in the program, in the process of 3D modeling of the two buildings, will monitor the coordination of the design specialties, and will offer advice for expanding the 3D models, by integrating the point cloud into the dedicated Digital Twin platform.
Faculty members from UTCB, including Cristiana Croitoru, University Lecturer, Mihnea Sandu, University Lecturer, Matei Georgescu, Assistant Professor, and Charles Berville, Researcher, will also participate in all these activities.
By supporting this endeavor, Leviatan Design reaffirms its role as a promoter of private sector involvement in the training and development of future specialists in the construction field, also contributing to the development of sustainable projects.
