Conclusions: 2021 – the year of our consolidation
2021 saw our business getting consolidated based on qualitative and quantitative improvements across several areas: the design capacity was enhanced using standardization and optimization of our own version of the BIM process implementation; the management of the time allocated to designing and delivering complex projects was improved; the HR force doubled; investment in new technologies and equipment increased by 65%; and the turnover soared by 180%.
Even if the effects of the pandemic rippled throughout the entire 2021, our design and architecture work was not affected, because we had already started the digitization and automation about 18 months before, so the healthcare sector crisis actually boosted our momentum, so we were able to easily adapt to the unexpected changes that came our way.
In terms of strategic thinking, the fact that we had anticipated the digitalisation trends and acted very early contributed to the efforts that we have been doing to develop our business sustainably. By the end of 2021, we had designed 94,000 m2 in seven complex projects and contracted four new large-scale projects, including the “Airport infrastructure in Câmpia Turzii” and the “Multinational Command Centre in Sibiu”.
The performance is due to the trust and support of our partners and our team, but also to the investments we made in our in-house R&D activities conducted in co-operation with Econfaire. So we are taking this opportunity to thank all those who have contributed to our success – companies such as Autodesk, Graitec, Synergiz.
Outlook for 2022 – accelerating the adoption of advanced technologies, and digitisation
Digital technologies connecting office teams to on-site workers will be a growing trend throughout 2022, yielding tangible benefits. We will continue the digitisation and we will also continue to use the cloud-based software which started two years ago, because this approach has helped us communicate in real time, collaborate more efficiently, improve our workflow and track documents more efficiently.
We will continue to help achieve our goal of integrating the designed 3D model with the on-site 3D model to complete the Digital Twin dimension of the BIM standard, on all our sites and in all of our projects, by using Mixed Reality, the Microsoft HoloLens2 equipment and the latest technologies.
The aim is to provide the client with a sustainable project. But first we need to identify those customized solutions that enable us to optimise all phases of the construction lifecycle: from design and execution to the operation of the project, allowing the simple and intuitive use of the Facility Management solutions to minimize energy consumption and cut the operating costs.
SMART projects are based on this flow. Given the shortage of qualified personnel in the construction industry, we will continue to support the educational programmes organized by the Polytechnic University of Timisoara and the Technical University of Civil Engineering in Bucharest by hosting internships and traineeships.
At the same time, we are ready to recruit university graduates who do not have experience in this field, but whom we can train on-the-job for the real opportunities of professional development that we can provide, as part of a team where performance is encouraged and people feel appreciated.
Achieving the NetZero environmental protection standard and reducing the impact of GHG on the planet is another challenge that our company has taken.
Leviatan Design’s architects and designers will use their creativity to propose sustainable, alternative and environment-friendly solutions that will benefit the client throughout the entire lifetime of a building or built structure. Thus, by integrating BIM throughout the entire work process, our projects always meet the traceability and sustainability requirements, while ensuring a high level of data security for the entire project.
We are committed to achieving the common UN climate change targets agreed in the COP26 convention, and we stay updated on all technologies and pieces of equipment that become available on the market and that run on renewables, so that we can propose them in the projects we develop and contribute to a cleaner environment in that way.
