From April to May 2024, Cătălin Podaru, CEO Leviatan Group, participated in a series of events in Washington DC, USA. Thus, Leviatan Group supported, on the one hand, the think tank New Strategy Center to present in Washington the challenges in the Black Sea region, an essential step in the context of the conflict in Ukraine, and on the other hand, it outlined its role as a supporter of Romanian leadership, at the Atlantic Council Distinguished Leadership Awards event.
At the same time, these events were also an important opportunity for Leviatan Group to strengthen its presence in the US and to explore possible partnerships and collaborations that would highlight Leviatan Group’s expertise in the development of military infrastructure projects and its commitment to supporting the building of a more secure future in the region.
Security challenges in the Black Sea region, presented in Washington by New Strategy Center experts with support from Leviatan Group
On 16-19 April 2024, Cătălin Podaru participated in a series of events in Washington, USA, with experts from the think tank New Strategy Center.
The New Strategy Center and the Hudson Institute launched, with the support of Leviatan Group, the study “The battle for the Black Sea is not over”, which draws attention to the continuing security challenges in the Black Sea region in the context of the conflict in Ukraine. Subsequently, multiple strategic meetings were held with officials from the US State Department, the House of Representatives Committee on Military Affairs, as well as security and foreign affairs experts from US think-tanks such as the Center for Strategic and International Studies, the Woodrow Wilson Center, The Heritage Foundation, the Atlantic Council, CEPA and the Hudson Institute.
In this way, on the one hand, the complex challenges in the Black Sea region, namely the situation in Ukraine and the challenges to freedom of navigation, were raised, and on the other hand, Romania’s commitment to regional security was underlined.
Romania – NATO, 20 years | Anniversary concert sponsored by Leviatan Group
On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Romania’s contribution to Euro-Atlantic and international security and stability as a member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, Cătălin Podaru participated in the anniversary concert “Faith, Freedom, Friendship: Celebrating 20 Years of Romania’s NATO Membership”, organized by the Romanian Embassy in the USA and Procred Music, on April 20, 2024.
The event was supported by Leviatan Group and took place at the Andrew Mellon Auditorium in Washington, USA, where the North Atlantic Treaty was signed 75 years ago, on April 4, 1949.
Leviatan Group, partner of the Atlantic Council Distinguished Leadership Awards
On 8 May 2024, Leviatan Group was honoured to participate as a partner in the Atlantic Council Distinguished Leadership Awards event, where Romania received a confirmation of its role in the strategic partnership with the US and NATO through the award presented to President Klaus Iohannis.
“We are working together to strengthen our collective security, to promote freedom and economic progress, and to ensure that democracy continues to deliver results. It is our shared responsibility and you can count on our ability to deliver. Because the United States has no better ally than Romania. I dedicate this award to all Romanians and to the partnership and friendship between Romania and the United States of America,” said Klaus Iohannis, President of Romania.
Gina M. Raimondo, US Secretary of Commerce, was also awarded the Distinguished International Leadership Award for her work in the public and private sectors. John F.W. Rogers, President of the Atlantic Council, presented the award.
General Christopher G. Cavoli, Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) and Commander, US European Command, received the Distinguished Military Leadership Award in recognition of his more than 35-year career in the US military, where he served in multiple roles in the US, Europe and Asia. During the Atlantic Council Distinguished Leadership Awards event, Cătălin Podaru had the opportunity to participate in a very interesting discussion on the new global security environment with Gen. Cavoli.
Michelle Yeoh, Oscar-winning actress, was honoured with the Distinguished Artistic Leadership Award for her artistic achievements and commitment as an ambassador for the United Nations Development Programme and member of the International Olympic Committee.
By participating in these landmark events, Leviatan Group reaffirms its commitment to excellence and leadership in all fields of activity, but especially in the security sector, which is essential to Romania’s development and prosperity. These meetings were valuable opportunities to discuss current and future security challenges and to explore new opportunities for collaboration and partnership.
